Description
With the implementation of SB 493, the pharmacist’s role in community based clinical pharmacy programs has expanded greatly. It has been over a year since California signed a law that allows pharmacists to furnish hormonal contraceptives without a prescription, yet this service is not commonplace. This session will discuss the current status of hormonal contraceptive services in community pharmacy and address challenges in the implementation of these clinical services.

The California Pharmacists Association (#0113) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
