Description
Given the current prescription drug abuse epidemic, DEA is increasingly focusing on the role of pharmacists as controlled substance gatekeepers. As a result, DEA has begun conducting controlled substance inspections of pharmacies. It is crucial that pharmacists understand how to prepare for a DEA inspection and how to manage a DEA inspection should one occur.

Learning Objectives
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Understand the current DEA approach to pharmacy inspections
  2. Know the DEA regulation of controlled substances
  3. Understand how to comply with DEA requirements
  4. Learn how to manage a DEA inspection

The California Pharmacists Association (#0113) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
